BIOGRAPHY
DAVID MARGOLICK Contributing Editor

David Margolick joined Vanity Fair as a contributing editor in December 1995. His first article for the magazine, in the June 1996 issue, was an in-depth profile of Benjamin Netanyahu just prior to his being elected prime minister of Israel. Subsequent articles have included reports on Roone Arledge and David Westin at ABC Television, Rick Kaplan at CNN, the clash between Max Frankel and Abe Rosenthal at The New York Times, the revolutionary newspaper of the 1940s, P.M., as well as an essay on the significance of Zippo lighters during the Vietnam war and a gripping narrative about the Billy Holiday song, Strange Fruit, which was expanded into a book published by Running Press in April 2000.

Prior to joining Vanity Fair, Margolick led The New York Times's coverage of the O. J. Simpson trial, where for a year he filed almost daily reports. He joined the Times in 1981 as a law reporter for the "Metropolitan" section. Leaving the Times in 1985 to write Undue Influence: The Epic Battle for the Johnson & Johnson Fortune (Morrow, 1993), Margolick returned in 1987 to write the "At the Bar" column, where he remained until 1994. He was named national legal affairs correspondent in 1988. A compilation of his columns, At the Bar: The Passions and Peccadilloes of American Lawyers, was published by Simon & Schuster in early 1995.

David Margolick, 46, holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Stanford University. He resides in Manhattan.
