About the Exhibit In 1998, Esther Levine returned from one of her many trips to Berlin. It was during this stay that she realized just how quickly the cityscape was changing. Overcome by a need to document this change she photographed the process, collecting a visual library of artifacts that form the body of this exhibit. Esther began by photographing construction sites and the people that lived and worked there, and continued documenting Berlin over the next five years. Through this process, she amassed a large collection of visual elements that have disappeared or changed completely. The end result is a photographic time capsule full of life in Berlin.
